This drum machine reads patterns created by converting decimal numbers to binary numbers.
For example, for a simple acid house-ish beat, click here to set Bass Drum to 34952, Open Hi-Hat to 8738, and Clap to 2056.
For a pattern kind of similar to James Brown's The Funky Drummer click here to set Bass Drum to 41508, Snare Drum to 2393, Closed Hi-Hat to 65275, and Open Hi-Hat to 260.
For a pattern similar to Led Zeppelin's When the Levee Breaks click here to set Bass Drum to 49456, Snare Drum to 2056, and Closed Hi-Hat to 43690.
The sounds are from a Roland TR-909, sourced from this very cool website from 1996. For more examples of drum machine patterns that will work in a 16 step format, I highly recommend the excellent Pocket Operations book by Paul Wenzel and the classic René-Pierre Bardet books on drum machine patterns.
This is the third entry in the 10,000 Drum Machines project by Maxwell Neely-Cohen.
